Best recipe to learn ITALIAN…. PIZZA!!

I am sure you all know more or less how is made a pizza, but we all are much more familiar with the kind of pizza that from the fridge or freezer goes directly into the oven!

Well, here you have a complete recipe to learn how to make the ORIGINAL PIZZA and also a nice occasion to revise some Italian vocabulary!

 

INGREDIENTS FOR 4 PEOPLE (Ingredienti per 4 persone):

600 ml water  (600 ml d’acqua)

1 kg plain flour (1 kg di farina 00)

5 grammes dried yeast (5 grammi di lievito)

6 spoons olive oil (6 cucchiai di olio d’oliva)

2 teaspoons salt (2 cucchiai di sale)

2 teaspoons sugar (2 cucchiaini di zucchero)

slices of mozzarella cheese (mozzarella tagliata a fettine)

a packet of chopped tomatoes (una confezione di pomodori pelati)

 

METHOD (Procedimento):

– Put the flour in a large bowl and make a hole in the middle of it.

(Mettete la farina in una ciotola capiente e fate un buco nel mezzo della stessa)

– Take another small glass bowl and pour in a glass of warm water, then melt the yeast and the sugar in it.

(Prendete un’altra piccola ciotola di vetro e versateci un bicchiere di acqua tiepida, poi scioglietevi il lievito e lo zucchero)

– Pour the water and the yeast mixture in the hole in the centre of the flour. Then dissolve in it the salt and add the oil.

(Versate l’acqua e la mistura di lievito nel centro della farina. Poi scioglietevi anche il sale e aggiungete l’olio)

– Knead until the dough is smooth and soft, then make a ball which lay in a very large bowl. Remember that the dough will double in size.

(Impastate finché la pasta non sarà soffice e liscia, poi formate una palla che riporrete in una grande ciotola. Ricordate che la psta aumenterà di volume del doppio)

– Cover the bowl with a towel and put it in a warm place.

(Coprite la ciotola con una asciugamano e riponetela in un luogo tiepido)

– Wait until the dough has doubled in size. This will take 1 hour or 1 and a half hours.

(Aspettate finché la pasta sarà raddoppiata di volume. Ci vorrà un’ora o un’ora e mezza circa)

– Then, divide it into four smaller balls and sprinkle a bit of flour over the surface where you are going to roll out the dough.

(Poi, dividete la pasta in quattro palle più piccole and spargete un po’ di farina sulla superficie su cui impasterete)

– Roll the dough with a rolling pin until you make a circle with uniform thickness. Add the chopped tomatoes, the mozzarella and any other toppings that you like.

(Stendete la pasta con un mattarello, fino ad ottenere un cerchio dalla spessore uniforme. Aggiungete i pomodori pelati, la mozzarella e qualsiasi altro ingrediente di vostro gradimento)

– Put the pizza on a baking tray into a hot oven and bake for 15 minutes.

(Ponete la pizza sulla griglia del forno e informate per 15 minuti)
